چکیده
Background: Xanthelasma palpebrarum (XP) is a common cutaneous xanthoma often associated with dyslipidemia. Carotid intima–media thickness (CIMT) non-invasive method of monitoring subclinical atherosclerotic plaque formation and its progression. This study was conducted to assess the cardiovascular comorbidities in patients XP by measuring CIMT serum lipid profile. Materials Methods: A total eighty aged between 18 80 years diagnosed clinically same number apparently healthy, age- sex-matched controls were included after giving informed consent. Detailed history taking, examinations, investigations performed for all patients. Results: Significantly raised triglycerides LDL levels seen 56.3% 66.3% cases, respectively. HDL elevated 63.8% cases 95% controls, which statistically significant. The mean cholesterol, triglyceride, LDL, 169.68 ± 39.91 mg/dL, 159.68 28.61 121.23 30.13 43.09 8.76 Elevated CCAIMT ICAIMT 87.4% 72.8% respectively, Conclusions: There significant elevation triglyceride decrease among when compared thus making profile testing compulsory xanthelasma. They also have an increased risk atherosclerosis, as assessed significantly higher values ICAIMT. Hence, xanthelasma should undergo screening procedure early detection primary prevention complications. Key words: Xanthoma; palpebrarum; Dyslipidemia; CIMT; Cardiovascular morbidity
